alex wasn’t one to really favor certain friends over others, but it was even clear to her that most of the time she found herself wanting to hang out with levi more than anyone. he was just a ton of fun, or so she thought. and he was always nice, unlike a lot of the guys she knew. it wasn’t that they were rude or anything, but they got bored, or annoyed; to put it simply, they were impatient when it came to spending too much time with girls. he could’ve just been being nice to alex, but it definitely seemed like he was a lot more pleasant to be around than most. overall, they got along sufficiently well, and in the end that was good enough for her. alexandria liked people, and even if there wasn’t much common ground, having someone to talk to, even about the most insignificant things, was a great way for her to just relax and forget about whatever stressed her out. though, usually, the pink haired girl found a different way to release stress.
cutting wasn’t exactly something she was proud of, but it also wasn’t something that anyone knew about. she didn’t want anyone to know. alex knew it was a bad thing, and was potentially very dangerous. why stop something that helped you though? her bracelets covered up the both faded and reddened marks in the flesh, even though that wasn’t a way out of explaining herself forever. and, if things worked out as they did in her mind (call them fantasies, but alex preferred to call them possible scenarios), her developing this crush on levi wouldn’t help keep her secret. it wasn’t a very big crush, but it was something. the two hadn’t been friends for too long, but the few times they’d hung out had given her a good enough impression to like him as a person. and, naturally, his looks mattered a bit too. he was definitely attractive; the word worked for him in every sense, actually. levi was cute, and he, from what she knew, was awesome to be around. what more did you need? but if things did work out between them as they did in alex’s mind, eventually, she assumed, general questions would be asked. and no one would want to date a freak that inflicted pain upon themselves. another ruined relationship just wouldn’t be good for the teenager.
right now though, a relationship was far from possible. and all they were doing was hanging out. alex managed to get away from her father, telling him it was to meet up with someone to talk about a photography job. it was partly true; there would be photography. just not for a job. her dad wasn’t a rotten person who wanted to keep her locked away all the time, he was just worried about her, and his disability only gave him a reason to keep her at home. money was money though, and he wouldn’t keep alex from saving up money of her own. luckily she’d had a good deal saved up from prior jobs; otherwise this money from the ‘potential job’ might be important. today was just about hanging out with levi though. and taking pictures, but for no good reason. simply of whatever she wanted, whether it was nature, other people or what have you. it was actually exciting; it’d been a while since she had been able to take pictures just for fun.
the teenager didn’t waste time in heading to the park, though she made sure not to get there too much before they were supposed to meet up. she’d look odd just sitting around waiting for a while. people would probably start to get nervous and think she was some creep or something. not that alex particularly looked like a creepy person or something. if anything, someone might think she was trying a tad bit too hard to stick out. that wasn’t true, but people might think that. she just liked what she liked, and did what she wanted without going too over the top. people would think what they wanted though, and alex had gotten over that a while ago. at first it did matter to her what everyone thought. after all, a good impression was important. but throughout high school, it became too apparent that you couldn’t please everyone. and from then on, it was about making sure the people she cared about were happy with her. most of all though, it was about being happy with herself. she could say she was mostly there.
heading over to one of the first benches, alex sat, waiting for levi. it wouldn’t be too long until he arrived, and sitting there wouldn’t be a bother. there was a ton going on, giving her something to watch. there was also a playground nearby. alexandria loved children, and watching them play and just be adorable would make her happy. kids were just too cute. the pink haired girl would refrain from taking pictures of them though, to avoid their parents thinking she was a creep. instead, she grabbed her camera out of her bag and focused on some nearby flowers, snapping a satisfactory shot of them. nature shots were great, but her favorite was getting pictures of people, whether they were posing or it was a surprise. it was the best when the picture didn’t seem forced; when the subject was really laughing at something funny or really smiling because something made them happy. you couldn’t fake real emotion. alex planned on getting a few pictures of levi throughout their time together. she knew they’d come out wonderful, and if she had her camera, why not?

since levi had come to LA, he'd found himself spending a lot of time alone. sure, he'd hung out with some people, like evan when he had the privelage to go on tour with her band - father sky. and since then, he'd been hanging out with his new aquantince, alex. she was a petite, pink haired girl who'd sparked an interest in him. she was attractive of course, with a nice sense of style, and good tastes. from what levi was told, she was a photographer, she lived with her father, and she had a nice personality. and the few times that the two got to hang out, he'd witnessed it for himself. you could say that levi had a bit of a crush on the girl, but with his inexperiance in healthy relationships - not having ever really been in one - he was a bit iffy of letting his feelings come out. not to mention that they hadn't had much time to get to know eachother, other than the things that they'd gotten to talk about the times that had been around eachother. but today they would get to know eachother even more, considering they were to meet up at the park.
the tall boy had been sitting in his apartment with a guitar sitting in his lap, since the night before. he was puzzled, a notebook and pen in his hands. lately, he'd had so much running through his mind, what with the tour, the fans, and alex. and all this had seemed to spark an inspiration in him. but sleep deprivation had taken its toll, making him unable to think clearly. few lyrics were in his cursive penmanship, scattered across the page, but he was unsure what to do with what he'd had. sighing, he ran his hand through his dishelved hair, before putting his guitar away and standing up. stretching, he made his way to the small bathroom, deciding to get ready and be on his way.
now clad in a white v-neck, black skinnies with holes in the knees, and his multiple cross and batman bottle cap necklace he grabbed his phone, checking himself in the mirror. usually, levi wouldn't care what he looked like. but today was different, he found himself worrying like a self-concious girl. on his way out the door, he contemplated on taking his acoustic with him. usually, he wouldn't go anywhere without it, but today he felt no need to take it. he'd sat all night, not able to come up with a thing, and figured he would get the same result now.
nervousness bubbled over the brim as he made his way to the park where he would meet alex. it wasn't very far from where he now was, but not wanting to get there too early he went to a small gas station, deciding to get something to drink before he went to meet her. scanning the refrigerated shelves, he picked out chocolate milk, paying for it and hurridly guzzling it down. chocolate milk was one of his favorite drinks, and having it calmed him a bit. really, he was unsure why he was so nervous. he'd hung out with the girl numerous times, and they usually had quite a bit of fun together. but now, realizing the way he was beginning to feel for her, made him unsure of himself. what if she didn't like him the same? but then again, what if she did but she was afraid to tell him like he was afraid to tell her? there were endless possibilities to this situation, and it freaked levi out.
now at the park, levi scanned the benches, finding alex sitting on one of the first ones, waiting. hands in pockets, a small smile capturing his lips he walked up to the bench, sitting beseide her and letting his arm lazily lay on the back of the bench, behind alex. "why hello there, i didn't keep you waiting too long, did i? he asked, his smile slightly fading, but still apparent on his lips.

being a photographer, and just being, well, alex, the park was one of her favorite places. it was generally so beautiful. the only time it wasn’t was when someone had thrown a party there or something, leaving their mess there for someone else to clean up. it was so disrespectful, in her opinion. how could anyone feel okay ruining a shared place for people to relax? luckily though, it had been quite a while since anything like that had happened and the park was its normal, beautiful self. perfect to take pictures and just be content. many times, if alex was feeling stressed and wanted to get out of the house (somewhat rare, due to her little habit), she’d take a short walk to the park and just sit for a while. it was especially calming to do that at night, because there was a perfect view of the stars. not in the whole park, of course, but if you found the right spot, it was perfect. unfortunately, alex had yet to get a picture of it. the girl would though, and it would probably be her favorite picture. it would be so beautiful.
right now though, obviously, the sun was out, so there would be no pictures of the stars. nature would be fine for now. besides, alex wasn’t even sure if she’d be taking a lot of pictures. the teenager wanted to hang out with levi. for now, she would much rather talk to him than take pictures. doing both was possible, but it would seem like she wasn’t paying much attention to him, and coming off as rude wouldn’t be very good. that would probably damage her chances with him, if she’d even had any. by now he had to know alex was a nice person and all, but it was still probably easy to change his opinion. or maybe the pink haired girl was just worrying a tad too much. that was a habit of hers too sometimes.
alexandria went through her camera, previewing the picture she’d just taken along with a few others, passing time until her friend arrived. of course, he arrived soon after, and she gently placed her camera in her lap. with a smile, she shook her head. “nope, i’ve only been here a few minutes. besides, i’ve got my trusty sidekick to keep me company,” the girl replied, gesturing towards her camera. it really could keep her entertained for hours. most people didn’t understand it. alex just loved taking pictures. or maybe she was just too easily entertained. either way, it was a hobby that worked for her.
truthfully, the teenager was a bit nervous. she was finally becoming more aware of her feelings. and, well, her last relationship didn’t turn out so well, so what if, assuming it got to that, this one didn’t turn out any better? alex didn’t even know if levi liked her though. he probably didn’t, because love just never worked with her. even though she’d only ever had one relationship. sure, there had been flirting going on, but there was a huge difference between liking someone or wanting a relationship and flirting. flirting didn’t have to mean anything. and mostly, for her, it didn’t. the guys were cute, but they weren’t crushes. it had just been harmless flirting. if levi started flirting with her though, it would not be harmless for her anyway. she might just die right there on the spot. okay, not die, but it would mean a lot to her, and if it was nothing, that might just throw her off. it wouldn’t be good.
“so how have you been?” she spoke, not wanting conversation to die. that wouldn’t be a good start. if conversation was being made, it would calm her nerves just a tad. as long as she didn’t say anything stupid. alex was generally careful with her words, but every so often things just slipped. sometimes they were insignificant things, but other times they were rather important things that make everything a bit awkward. and if it somehow slipped that the girl had a developing crush, she wouldn’t know what to do.

when he was younger, levi hadn't gotten to go to the park and play like all the other kids did. he'd remembered living by a park at one point in time, and watching all his neighbors play there, having a fun time with eachother. but levi was made to sit in his room, alone, and entertain himself in some way or another. usually he would read, or play on his fathers old guitar - even though he wasn't supposed too. and thats where he found out that music was his passion. he learned to play by himself, made up his own little tunes, and soon enough he was moving out and into a bigger and better place, where he would persue his music career. but now older, he was able to go to the parks, and he found them a good and relaxing place to just sit and play his music. often, he would go to the park - day or night - and take his guitar with him, and just sit under a tree and make up random lyrics and music to go along with it.
but meeting up with alex here made it even better. he enjoyed the girls company in any place really, but at the park they could sit and talk, be comfortable with their surroundings and get to know each other. and other than evan, alex really was the only person that he'd gotten to sit down and talk with. he hadn't really gotten to be out and about to much since arriving, other than the tour that he'd went too. but in all honesty, the boy was content with just knowing few people for now. sure, he'd like to get out and meet new people at some point in time. but with him being a bit afraid to venture out alone, he was fine with just sitting with the adorable alex and talking with her.
after sitting down with the girl, he couldn't help but keep smiling. she brought out a sort of happiness in him, even though that sounded weird, to him anyway. he felt that, for once, he could finally be himself around someone. not have to hide the person he really was and just have fun talking and joking like he normally would. and it was a bit of a shock, considering levi was always too afraid to be himself because of his home life. but it made him feel as if moving had made the change that he thought it would, which made him even more happy. “nope, i’ve only been here a few minutes. besides, i’ve got my trusty sidekick to keep me company,” responded the girl, and he looked down at her lap, where her sidekick sat. letting his smile fade into a playful frown he sighed "i should've brought my sidekick with me too," he said, looking up at the girl. "but i decided against it. it can get pretty annoying, lugging that thing around." he said with a chuckle, wondering if she knew that he was talking about his guitar. it really was odd without it by his side though. but not knowing what the two were getting into he had left it behind, afraid that some sort of damage might have occured while they were out and about.
levi was always afraid that he was boring, or annoying. never really able to be himself, he always felt the need to be quite around most people - not sure if he should be his happy self like he should be. and now, as he sat with alex, he was afraid that he wouldn't be able to keep up a conversation. constantly, levi was searching through his mind for things to talk about, and picked out the good from the bad, the normal from the random. and when saying something, he always found himself searching their faces for a sign that he was saying to much, or saying to little. it was a constant worry though, a habit that was hard to get rid of. and now that levi was aware of the feelings that were growing for this pink haired beauty, he found himself checking himself multiple times. the last thing he wanted to do was get on the girls nerves, or freak her out by telling her to much. he just wished that all of this was easier for him, that he'd had experiance with feeling such as these. but he didn't, and he was forever unsure when was the right time to tell alex about how he felt.
after a short silence, one that had made levi a bit more nervous, her heard alex ask him how he's been. looking away for a second, letting his eyes wander across the playground, and then back to his lap he looked up at the girl. "i've been.. okay. the past few nights, for some reason, i haven't really been getting much sleep. all i've been doing was messing around with my guitar, and such. but other than that, i've been okay." he said, offereing a small smile. he felt like such an idiot when he spoke, and he let what he just said process through his mind for a second. "how about you?" he asked, realizing that he hadn't asked her after he was done explaining himself. "i'm really glad that you were able to come here today, i've been meaning to ask you if you wanted to hang out for a while." he said, leaving it at that. he was pretty sure that he sounded like a rambling idiot.

sometimes alex missed those days when she was little, when her and her brother would go outside and play, usually something like cops and robbers if there were other kids around. maybe that was how she grew to be such an outgoing person. there were always other kids in the neighborhood outside. and when they came over and said hi, you automatically invited them to play. granted, alex had never been one of the ‘cool’ kids in her life, but she’d always had a good amount of friends. of course, before people started moving or drifting apart. the ones who weathered that though, most went off to college. so the girl still had friends, they were just off doing bigger and better things. she was stuck at home, kinda keeping the household in working order. she didn’t mind helping her father, since she didn’t want her brother to focus on anything other than what he needed to (mostly school), but it kept her from doing a lot of things kids her age were supposed to be doing.
every so often she got to head out and spend a while doing things she wanted to do, but alex was always hoping everything at home was okay. it was easy to make her feel guilty or neglectful, even if that wasn’t the case or you weren’t even implying that. it did help that the girl cared a lot though. she was always there to vent to, or to ask for help. alexandria always let people know they could turn to her. they didn’t have to be there for her (and even if they were, she’d vent as little as possible), but she’d be there for them. maybe her career path was all wrong. a therapist seemed to be more fitting. though, she’d never really be able to tell someone they had a problem if they did. alex was too nice; she’d feel bad. no one wants to hear they have a problem.
it seemed as though she didn’t have a problem in the world right now, though. being out and having fun always took her mind off of everything too serious, especially when she was out with people who were good company. levi definitely fit into that category. he was nice. definitely not one of those guys who felt they always needed to seem superior and amazing. it made her feel weird to use such a word, mostly because of her crush, but he was perfect company. alex didn’t feel the need to really hold back in terms of personality and just herself. confusion set in for a second, not visibly, until the pink haired girl realized what levi was talking about. his guitar. it only made sense. “you should’ve brought it! we could’ve done one of those ‘deep musicians sitting in nature’ photoshoots!” she joked, grinning. “orrrr, i could just do this.” alex snapped a quick surprise shot of him, giggling slightly. he didn’t have enough time to react in surprise before it was taken, so it definitely came out great. going into the camera’s memory, she pulled up the picture. as expected, it was good. the teenager turned the camera towards levi, showing him the result. “you look so cute!” alexandria told him with a smile.
the girl pulled her best poker face for the situation, doing her best not to blush in the slightest. hopefully there was no indication that she meant it as anything more than a friendly compliment. her life would simply be over if he somehow found out. she’d just never be able to see him again without feeling so insanely awkward and embarrassed. and then he might start feeling bad, and it would just be one bad cycle of people feeling bad for reasons that could’ve been avoided. there was the off chance that he actually had the same feelings for her, but alex tried not to think about that. getting her hopes up was really the last thing she needed. no matter what the situation was, it sucked to get let down. her love life wasn’t something that needed to be screwed around with any more, so that was a big reason she tried not to get her hopes up at all. levi didn’t seem like someone to break her heart, or be rude about turning her down, but her ex didn’t either. it was just easier to be wary and watch your step. for her, at least. she was already cutting because it started with her last relationship, she didn’t need any more problems.
alex listened, one of the things she did best, to levi explaining how he’d been. she sometimes had trouble sleeping, not too often, but enough to know it wasn’t fun at all. “i hate that. i need my sleep, or else i get cranky,” the girl replied with a smile before adding, “at least you’ve been good otherwise.” when you didn’t get much sleep, not having a good day was like the end of the world. it sucked. “i’ve been good. a little busy with taking pictures and stuff, but overall good.” things were actually good; it had been a couple days since she’d last cut. only three at the most, but that was better than nothing. a smile crossed her lips when levi spoke again. even though he probably meant it as a friend, it made alex feel special that he was glad they could hang out. “i’m glad too. i have fun hanging out with you,” she replied, poking him gently in the side and giggling.
