it all started back in 2007, when tiger st. augustine, an oceanside eighth grader, videotaped one day of his life for a class assignment and uploaded the edited twenty minute documentary onto youtube. within a week the video received over three million hits and quickly became a favorite of young teens across the country. "i didn't really even think, didn't want it to be such a big deal!" st. augustine recalls. "but it was and i'm happy with it today." the "documentary", named tiger time on the youtube website, has been called one of the funniest videos ever created. it features st. augustine having ridiculous phone conversations with his friends and arguments with his mother and pulling a prank on the neighbor, as well as several other humorous events. "that's just how my life is! it's [explicit] wonderful!" st. augustine, now seventeen, says. "i wake up, i do fun [explicit], and i go to sleep."

after a month of being on st. augustine's youtube channel, a few producers caught wind of the video. "we thought 'hey, what the hell. let's have a look at this tiger kid,'" mtv producer ira deckerd says. they instantly loved the idea. "the kid has an interesting life. he's richer than [explicit] jim carrey and he's funnier too," deckerd comments. "you gotta love his energy. there's just something about tiger that says he will do anything as long as it's fun."

the premiere of "tiger time" was december 31st, 2008 at 10 pm eastern. over 8 million across the united states were tuned into the show about tiger st. augustine's life. "when i heard how many people were watching the show, my [explicit] show man, i [explicit] almost died," a laughing st. augustine explains. "i didn't even expect mr. anderson's class project to turn into something this [explicit] controversial." the show featured tiger replacing his brother's lotion with superglue and setting fire to a giant wooden duck. "the duck was fun as [explicit] to make and my brother came out of the bathroom with his hand stuck to his [explicit]! it was [explicit] epic."

the show has since then become mtv's highest viewed television series. "it's just so much fun to make, i love it," st. augustine comments, grinning. "tiger time"'s fourth season begins october 29th at 10pm eastern on mtv."
